Dopram-V Drops are a respiratory stimulant used to initiate or stimulate breathing in new born calves, kittens, lambs and puppies following difficult births.
Most breeders have suffered the upset of having new born animals with breathing problems and despite every effort some do not survive.
However, Dopram-V Drops contain a substance called Doxapram - similar to treatments used in caring for premature babies in hospital – which stimulates breathing.
Dopram-V is administered by adding the correct dose of drops for the animal concerned to the underside of its tongue.
The effects of Dopram-V usually begin in a few seconds with the duration and intensity of response depending on the dose and the condition of the animal.
Excessive doses of Dopram-V may produce hyperventilation which may be followed by reduced carbon dioxide tension in the blood, cerebral vasoconstriction, hypoxia and possible brain damage.
Please refer to the manufacturer's guidance or your Veterinary surgeon for Dopram-V dosages which should be adjusted to meet the requirements of the situation.
Repeated doses of Dopram-V should not be given until the effects of the first dose have passed and the condition of the animal requires it.
Dopram-V Drops are manufactured by Pfizer/Fort Dodge and comes in a 5ml bottle.
